Adjectives

An adjective is a descriptive word that describes a noun

 

 

Here are two examples...

 

    ‘a cold day’              ‘a heavy shower’    

 

 

Adjectives appear in two main positions in a sentence:

 

Before nouns

After verbs such as be (is /am etc) become, grow, seem

 

Examples...

 

  1. She is tall
  2. He became angry
  3. It grew fiercer
  4. She seems content

 

Look for words ending in ‘able’ ‘ous’ ‘ful’ ‘ical’ ‘ive’ ‘-less’ ‘-like’ ‘’y’
