Welcome to William Howard School

Introduction

William Howard Sixth Form is a challenging and stimulating place in which to study.  We hope that you will join us and continue the tradition of our Sixth Formers achieving excellent academic results.

We are rightly proud of our record of academic excellence but you are also entitled to expect other enrichment activities as part of the Sixth Form experience.  For example, you may want to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, participate in the Community Sports Leaders Course, join a Young Enterprise Company or work alongside younger students in the Learning Support Department. In addition to these well established, highly successful and popular activities we offer a wide and varied choice of sporting, musical, dramatic, cultural, social and travel opportunities. We also offer a sports achievement scholarship programme. Every year, one pupil who demonstrates outstanding ability in a sport or a strong talent for physical education can be put forward to receive a free personal trainer course from Discovery Learning. This is a great scholarship because it allows a young person to begin a career in the UK fitness industry immediately after leaving school.

This is an exciting time in post 16 education and we have taken advantage of the Curriculum 2000 changes to offer our widest ever range of academic and vocational courses. There are many different courses to choose from in September and we are confident that we will have something to suit you.
